Andrea Nighttime Laughter May 28, 2006

How I remember all of the times Aunt Peggy came to visit us in Californiaa! I didn't have the privilege of growing up near the extended family, so I always loved it when aunts, uncles and cousins came to visit. There was always laughter ... well into the middle of the night. Each year, the stories seemed to get better and funnier.  I love the one about how, one time, that laughter turned to screams when Aunt Peggy opened her suitcase and a pair of men's shoes fell out. She obviously had picked up the wrong suitcase at the LAX baggage claim. Of course, it was my dad that had to return the bag to the airport -- knowing there was some guy out there needing to explain why he had a ladies' nightgown in his suitcase!  I will always remember my Aunt Peggy with the greatest love and admiration.  Even in the face of adversity, she never lost her sense of humor!

Georgia Heisler Rubber Chocolate April 10, 2006

I remember how the adults would always gather around Grandma's kitchen table to talk and shag us kids away with a "you kids get out of here."  Imagine my surprise when I wasn't greeted with that.  Instead, Aunt Peggy reached for a plate on the table and offered me the one remaining piece of chocolate.  "Here, want a chocolate?" Aunt Peggy asked.  I should have been suspicious, but who am I to turn down a chocolate?  I can still hear Aunt Peggy laughing as I bit into it and discovered it was rubber.

Aunt Peggy used to tell stories on herself about the skinny Christmas trees she and the kids had.  And how they were so dry that every time a gun would go off on a TV western, needles would fall off the tree!  Hard times met with perseverance and humor.  I'll miss you Aunt Peggy!

Love, Georgia

Julie Childhood memory April 8, 2006
When we were little, Valentine's Day was even a big Holiday.  Mom would have us all sit around the table and play heart candy bingo. She was the caller and we all had about 10 hearts to play with.  Mom would call out the words on the hearts (as in "I love you" or "Be Mine") and we would add them to the pile in the middle if we had what she called.  The first one to run out of hearts would get the pile!  We had to yell BINGO first, tho!
Lora Stevens Moms are the best April 7, 2006

Moms are so much the foundation that we are brought up on.  Knowing that you were a great support when I lost mine, I will lend you my hand and my heart anytime you need it or want it....

Keep her memory fresh...
